Simonside Hills, Rothbury is a popular hiking trail for those that like to get out and explore. The panoramic views of the Cheviots and the Northumberland coastline is definitely worth the short but steep incline to the top. Fantastic sunrise and sun setting views, highly recommend getting up early or staying late to see these!

Family Fun: Carlisle Park, Morpeth

Enjoy a day out in Morpeth, take the kids and let them burn some energy in this well designed and equipped park. There’s even a large outdoor pool, hire boats for the river, climbing frame and refreshments including doughnuts on site. This park is dog friendly.

Northumbrian Walks: Craster to Amble

A stunning coastal walk taking in the stunning scenery as we walked from Craster to Amble in Northumberland. Rollo and I completed 15.5 miles with a couple of pit stops at some dog friendly pubs. After our long walk, we tucked into some delicious food at the Wellwood Arms in Amble and headed home so I could chill out and ease the muscles in our hot tub at Stag Lodge. Available to rent all year round, Stag is perfectly central to getting out and exploring Northumberland.

Northumberland Walks: Thrunton Woods

We love walking in Northumberland, this is one of my favourite walks. We visited Thrunton Woods and hiked for around 9 miles. Stunning views of the Cheviot. It’s a popular place to visit for families, dog walkers, cyclists and the occasional horse riders. Miles upon miles of different tracks. It is a steep and steady incline to the top, so make sure you take refreshments and a picnic.

A 5 mile Northumberland hike, taking in the magnificent views of the Cheviot’s and more from Simonside, Rothbury. Plenty of walking trails suitable for hikers, amblers and family friendly. After your walk, pop into the village of Rothbury, there you will local village shops, butchers, pubs, cafes and small independent boutiques and art galleries. Most places are dog friendly too.
